Montauk Marine Formal Apology to “Crack Oar” Montauk Marine wish to extend our sincere apology to the crew of the Crack Oar including Jeff Woerz and Paul Hiller for our actions the night of June 26, 2010. We are sorry that a staff member started a rumor that there was cheating and non-sportsman like conduct performed by anyone aboard the Crack Oar during the Montauk Marine Basin Shark Tournament. It was the staff member’s birthday weekend and he had been celebrating with his friends and as a result was not acting professional and was doing a little too much celebrating. This does not excuse his actions or any false allegations that there was any foul play on the part of you and or your crew during the tournament. All of us at Montauk Marine Basin know that there was absolutely no cheating on your part or for that fact anyone else participating in the tournament. We are truly very sorry for any problems or issues which have resulted from his actions. We never intended to cause any of you the embarrassment you have suffered or tarnished reputations. Again, he was not acting like himself that night and we know that you did not cheat in any way or break any IGFA rules while fishing. We are not exactly sure why he said that you cheated nor do es he completely recall the entire events that took place that night.
